Furthermore, demining of agricultural lands is a key priority for AmCham Agricultural Committee members considering the consequences of continuous unprovoked full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
According to the data provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of May 2023, approximately 470,000 hectares of agricultural land potentially contaminated with explosive objects have been identified in Ukraine, of which approximately 70,000 hectares of agricultural land have been inspected. Mined agricultural lands cause a significant reduction in the ability to grow sufficient crops, which in turn affects global food security, including food prices and hunger rates worldwide.
Therefore, AmCham Ukraine member companies support initiatives and projects for demining the territory of Ukraine, inter alia its agricultural lands.
