Policy Progress: Chamber Efforts Resulted in Amending Certain Local Fees in Hospitality Sector in Kyiv

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes the decision of Kyiv City Council on approving the amendments to its Decision #242/5629 "On Establishment of Local Taxes and Duties in Kyiv", that included certain Chamber proposals.

In particular:

  • Tourism fee is reduced for both internal (0,4 %) and international (1%) tourists
  • January 2019, as transitional period, is not taxable
  • Provision on payment of a tourism fee to the advance payment, before the temporary accommodation takes place, is canceled

These amendments entered into force on February 1, 2019 and we welcome this important step on the way to improvement and simplification of legislation in hospitality and tourism sphere.

We would like to thank Maryna Rymarenko, Head of the Сhamber Working Group on Hospitality & Tourism, DEOL Partners, Viktoriya Chornovol, Co-Chair of the Chamber Tax Committee, PJSC "Deloitte & Touche USC", Valeriya Vdovychenko, Senior Consultant, PJSC "Deloitte & Touche USC" and all Chamber Members who were actively involved in this advocacy process.
