Policy Progress: The Draft Law #4162 on Fundamental Principles of Tourism Development Was Registered in the Parliament

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes registration of the Draft Law #4162 on fundamental principles of tourism development in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The registered Draft Law envisages:

  • Creation of the Unified Tourism Register and the Unified Tourism Portal;
  • Introduction of the concept of categorization of hotels and "voluntary categorization" which is designed to reduce corruption risks;
  • Definition of standards in tourism sphere;
  • Opportunity to finance programs at the local level through tourism targeted funds.

The establishment of a single electronic information system of tourism entities, simplification of permitting procedures, elimination of additional burden on business, establishing an effective mechanism of state supervision, and statistical reporting will ensure the sustainable development of tourism business.

Experts of the Chamber Hospitality & Tourism Committee have been continuously highlighting the importance of updating current legislation in the tourism sphere, therefore we welcome this step aimed at facilitating the development of tourism sector in Ukraine.
