Policy Win: The President of Ukraine Signed the Law Strengthening the Protection of Telecommunications Networks

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law #600-ІХ on strengthening the protection of telecommunication networks. While amending the Code of Administrative Offences of Ukraine and the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the Law envisages increase of the criminal and administrative liability for damage or destruction of the telecommunication networks and their components.

Experts of the Chamber Mobile Telecom Committee took an active part in advocating this initiative aimed at strengthening the protection of telecommunication infrastructure. It is a crucial step as nowadays mobile communications and the Internet are an essential means of communication between citizens, businesses, and public authorities fulfilling both technical and social function. Experts of the Chamber Mobile Telecom Committee welcome signing of Law #600-ІХ and look forward to further improvement of Ukraine’s telecom legislation as well as creation of favorable conditions for ensuring proper protection of telecommunication infrastructure.
