Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for Draft Law #1076 amending the Law “On Public Procurement" and some other legislative acts regarding improvement of public procurement. This Law allows, inter alia, to extend the public procurement of medicines and medical devices via the international organization till March 31, 2022. This is crucial for providing patients with sustainable access to high-quality treatment and vaccines.
On October 2018, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine registered the State-Owned Enterprise "Medical Procurement of Ukraine" (SOE). This enterprise has to ensure the further development of medical procurement reform. SOE has started the pilot projects on the procurement of medicines at the expense of the Global Fund and later it will take over all functions of Central Procurement Agency. Till then, we are welcoming the prolongation of the procurement via international organizations as it is critical for patients to sustainably receive necessary medicines.
