On February 13, 2024, the President of Ukraine signed the Law of Ukraine #3528-IX “On the Regulation of the Circulation of Plants of the Genus Cannabis for Medical, Industrial Purposes, Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities to Create Conditions for Expanding Patients Access to the Necessary Treatment” (the Law).
The Law creates a legal framework to regulate the circulation of cannabis and to provide access to evidence-based modern healthcare technologies. The Law establishes the legal grounds regarding activities related to the cultivation, acquisition, transportation, import/export, manufacture, storage, use, sale, and destruction of medical cannabis.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (AmCham) welcomes the adoption of progressive legislation as well as the best practices for Ukrainian patients, especially those affected by the war.
The AmCham looks forward to the proper development of relevant bylaws for transparent and effective implementation of the Law in the next six months.
