The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes the adoption of Draft Law #2693-d "On Media" (Draft Law) by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on December 13, 2022.
The Draft Law envisages the following:
- implementation of the provisions of the EU's Audiovisual Media Services Directive
- reduction of the influence of private interests and introduction of level regulatory field for all types of media
- introduction of co-regulation by the regulator and media industry
- strengthening of Ukraine's information security
The Chamber Media & Communication Committee experts supported Draft Law in general and welcome the introduction of the proposals of the business community on the scope of application of the respective Law, weakening certain restrictions for thematic channels, and revising liability.
